Around Town: Theatre, music and more in Delhi

1. Immerse Yourself in the World of Music
Delve into the enchanting melodies at the choir concert, “O Le Le,” organized by the NalandaWay Foundation to commemorate the journey of the Delhi Children’s Choir (DCC) since its establishment in 2018. As a non-profit organization dedicated to working with children from some of India’s most underserved districts, NalandaWay Foundation aims to amplify their voices and address their concerns through visual arts, music, dance, radio, theatre, and films. “O Le Le” is the inaugural performance in a series highlighting the growth of talented students from government schools in Delhi. Join the celebration on August 21 at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Saket.

2. Witness a Captivating Tale
Experience “Aafat Mein Jaan,” a Hindi comic drama unfolding in a police station, where the inspector and constable find themselves entangled in similar predicaments. Written and directed by Dinesh Ahlawat, the play weaves parallel plot lines involving characters whose destinies intriguingly converge in the end.

3. Harmonize with Melodic Bliss
Indulge in the soul-stirring performance of Hindustani vocalist Sriparna Nandi at “Oasis for Art,” an initiative by The Trialogue Company. Nandi’s bhakti ras recitals will capture the essence of nirgun and sagun bhakti, featuring the works of Meerabai, Raidas, Surdas, and Sant Kabir Das. Additionally, she will present a Ritu Raag Rasa, celebrating the monsoons or saawan with raag-based songs, kajri, jhoola, and the verses of Amir Khusrau. Don’t miss this enchanting performance on August 21 at The Trialogue Studio, Delhi. Tickets available on bookmyshow.in.

4. Revel in Poetic Insights
Immerse yourself in the timeless Hindi play, “Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein,” written by Bhishma Sahni, a classic of the contemporary stage. Infused with the poetry of Kabir, the play explores the transformation of a simple man who, after witnessing years of injustice, prejudice, and blind faith, evolves into a mystic. Addressing modern concerns about caste and India’s syncretic structure, the play features a reinterpretation of the original music by Delhi-based band Dastaan Live and playwright MK Raina. Catch the performance at Stein Auditorium, starting at 7:30 PM. Tickets are priced at Rs 200, available on bookmyshow.com.
